For home interiors, there isn’t a single “best” plywood grade for everything—it depends on where you’re using it. But broadly, you can narrow it down to BWP (Marine grade) and MR grade.
This is the top choice for modern homes, especially kitchens and areas with moisture.
Why it’s best:
Fully waterproof (uses phenol-formaldehyde resin)
Highly durable, termite & fungus resistant
Long lifespan (often 20–30 years warranty)
Best for:
Kitchen cabinets
Bathroom vanities
Sink areas
Utility/storage near water
In short: If budget allows, use BWP/marine plywood for most interior furniture.
Good water resistance (not as strong as BWP)
Slightly cheaper
Best for:
Wardrobes
TV units
Bedroom furniture
Good balance between cost and durability
Basic interior plywood
Not waterproof (only handles humidity)
Best for:
Dry areas only
Study tables, shelves, wall panels
Avoid using in kitchen or bathroom
Kitchen + Bathroom → BWP / Marine (must use)
Wardrobes + Living room → BWP or BWR
Low-budget / dry areas → MR
If you want a safe, long-term choice, just go with BWP (IS:710) plywood everywhere—it avoids future issues like swelling or damage.
For most home interiors, BWR grade plywood is the best overall choice because it balances durability, moisture resistance, and cost. Use BWP (Marine) grade in areas exposed to water like kitchens and bathrooms for maximum protection, and choose MR grade only for dry spaces like bedrooms if you want to save money.
